It has today been announced that the Venerable Paul Davies – the Archdeacon of Bangor and Anglesey – has been appointed as the new Archdeacon of Surrey in the Diocese of Guildford.
He will conclude his public ministry in the Diocese of Bangor with a special Eucharist service in St. Mary and St. Nicolas Church, Beaumaris, on Sunday 5 November at 3pm.
Paul, Louise and their children Gwilym and Llinos will move to live just outside Guildford, and he will be installed as Archdeacon of Surrey in Guildford Cathedral on Sunday 10 December at 6pm.
In a message to the Diocese, Paul tells how his new appointment has taken him and his family by surprise, and how difficult it will be to leave the Diocese of Bangor.
Reflecting on Paul’s new appointment, the Bishop of Bangor – the Right Rev’d Andy John – said, “Our God is one of surprises and as Christian people we are called to listen to God and to seek his will. Paul, Louise, Gwilym and Llinos have been on that journey of discernment recently, and we can only support them with our love and prayers as they follow God’s call. Paul is a trusted colleague and friend. Our loss is very much Guildford’s gain.”
