‘Rooted in God?’ this Lent

2017-02-19-Clawr Gwreiddio yn Nuw.1The Diocese of Bangor is pleased to announce that the latest in its series of bilingual publications –  to help people worship God, grow the Church and love the world – is now available.

‘Rooted in God?’ is the diocese’s Lent Book for 2017 and has been prepared by the diocese’s Spirituality Officer, the Revd Janet Fletcher.

Looking forward to people using the material. Janet said, ‘This book can be used by groups, or individuals.  Following the introduction, each week of Lent begins with prayer, and then the theme of th2017-02-27- Janet Fletcher Square 1at week is opened up through a passage from the Old Testament, this is continued through New Testament passage and a reading to take us to the Cross.  The 6th Sunday of Lent,  beginning with Palm Sunday, is different and offers a short reflection and poem for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Day.

The image of a tree weaves through each week, with an explanation on how to use and pray with this ‘tree’ and links in with an art exhibition in Bangor Cathedral.’

The Bishop of Bangor – the Right Reverend Andy John – commented. ‘I am really looking forward to using this book to lead me through the holy season of Lent, as we prepare for the great Christian celebration of Holy Week and Easter. The season of Lent provides us an opportunity to deepen faith and walk closer with God. This book will help us to do just that, and I commend it to the faithful people of our diocese and other Christian people.’
